Batuhan Eren (Post-doctoral research fellow, Scuola Normale Superiore) presented the paper titled “Unveiling the Transnationalization of Far Right Practices Through an Event Chronology Based Approach” at the Annual Conference of European Governance and Politics Programme in Florence on March 27-28, and at the Transnationalization of the Far-Right workshop organised by The Johns Hopkins University SAIS Europe and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins in Bologna on April 8.
The paper, co-authored with Prof. Manuela Caiani, seeks to explain the dynamics of the recent transnationalization of far-right politics through the analysis of the cooperative events and activities carried out by the far-right actors in seven countries (the UK, Italy, France, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria and Poland). Adopting an innovative methodological approach based on the triangulation of the event chronologies, social media content analysis and in-depth interviews, this research aims to provide a comprehensive analytical framework to explore the motivations, actions, and interactions of far-right actors, as well as the conditions and mechanisms of their transnationalization.
